In a sun-warmed studio that has sheltered three generations of metalworkers, the Aurora Opal Unicorn is born from a lineage that treats each stone as a memory. Our workshop preserves the old ways—the smell of copper, the careful ordering of tools, and a belief that jewelry should grow with the wearer, not wear them down. Each batch arrives with the reverence of a ceremonial rite, a nod to craftsmen who first learned to bend heat and hope into lasting form.
Every pendant begins with the Aurora Opal coffin stone, selected for its quiet fire and chatoyant flashes. It is meticulously wrapped in oxidized copper wire by hand, with patient turns and precise spirals that cradle the stone without compromising its glow. The process demands hours of hand-work: shaping, binding, and reflocking the patina, then sealing with a gentle, satin-bright polish. A fine, secure bezel catches the labors in place, ensuring the stone endures daily wear.
Each piece bears the mark of its maker—slight asymmetries in the copper's florid patina, and the opal's one-of-a-kind shimmer. Sourcing: ethically mined Aurora Opal, copper from recycled stock, and a full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather cord. The final pendant ships with an 18” leather cord for a balanced, wearable finish, and is assembled by hand, inspected for secure wrapping and durability.
